Blue-Red Ball 2022: A Night of Friendship and Joy
By: Frances Aura D. Lim
Friendship is a virtue that cannot be taken out of a student's life, especially in high school. As Letran-Manaoag values this bond between its learners, a Blue-Red Ball for grade 11 and grade 12 students to attend was held by the institution on October 28, 2022 at the Pilgrims Center, Manaoag, Pangasinan. The grade 11 and grade 12 students were assigned to attend the ball in the colors blue and red respectively. The girls attended in a beautiful cocktail dresses of their color, while the boys attended in their dashing long sleeves.
The program started with a grand entrance, with a queue of pairs from each grade level walking together gracefully up to the stage and showing off their dazzling outfits. As the grand entrance came to a close, the student Masters of Ceremony, Jaydeebrylle Ang and Allison Villanda, made an introductory speech. They spoke of the essence and purpose of the Blue-Red ball, as well as welcoming all the guests present. Students assigned to the opening prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, were also introduced. Ms. Nadine Tibule-Tersol, the Principal of the Basic Education, gave her words of welcome, sentimentalizing how thankful they were to finally hold the Blue-Red Ball for today's academic year after the pandemic.
Afterwards, the grade 12 and grade 11 students, respectively, prepared for their dance presentation. Each class showed off their dance moves, which paid off after days and days of hard practice. After the performances, the symbolic ceremony, in which the seniors passed on the responsibility of facing every challenge with the same fervor and spirit as the juniors, took place. The male and female students placed ornaments on each other, as flowers were given by the boys and symbolic pins were given by the girls.
Dinner for the guests and students took place, along with a few party games afterwards. As a way to enjoy and spend the rest of the night joyously, a dance-for-all was held. Near the end of the program, various awards were given to deserving students based on their performances as attendees of the Blue-Red Ball. Another dance-for-all was held before finalizing the event.
As one of the most memorable parts of life, Letran Manaoag provides its students, particularly those preparing for the big leap in academic life: college, with a way to enjoy themselves at school in the presence of their friends and even some that they may consider family.
