Faculty Retreat: A Chance to Connect with God and Nature

By: Miss Moriel Kim B. Mana-ay

The administration, faculty, and staff of Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manaoag traveled for their three-day retreat (June 28-30, 2022) in Caleruega, Nasugbu, Batangas. The group departed at four o’clock and arrived at Caleruega at 10:30 in the morning. They were gathered at the Veritas Hall, where they were given their assigned rooms and some reminders. They had their lunch and siesta afterward. The session started at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Dominicum facade of Caleruega and was facilitated by their retreat master, Rev. Fr. Christopher Jeffrey L. Aytona, O.P. He gave brief information about the place and the significance of various symbols. To celebrate life, he urged everyone to reflect on their purpose and mission. It was followed by an evening mass and dinner.

The next day was spent with two sessions in the morning facilitated by Rev. Fr. Christopher Jeffrey L. Aytona, O.P. The two sessions were about repentance and showing kindness to everyone regardless of their status in life. The afternoon was spent with personal time for reflection and confession. The evening mass was held at the Transfiguration Chapel, presided over by Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Redillas, O.P., Ph.D. with his co-celebrants, Rev. Fr. Bejay P. Namuag, O.P. and Rev. Fr. Norman I. Quilaquil, O.P. The night ended with so much fun because of the community gathering.

The last day was spent on a quick tour around the Parish and National Shrine of Saint Padre Pio in Santo Tomas, Batangas, and buying souvenirs and pasalubong. Along with that, the group also visited Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba. The group was given a tour and had a chance to experience Hyflex teaching and learning. The group was able to spend some quiet time with God and learn more about one another on this retreat. Additionally, it also strengthens the group's camaraderie and gets everyone ready for the upcoming academic year. Everyone enjoyed it, so it was worthwhile.
